I got the star sewn together a few weeks ago. I am amazed at how cool this looks!
It's so large, it hangs off the edges of my design wall, so I can't even show you the points right now.
The colors are just right -- kind of like a kaliedescope.
Now for the corners, and edging. It's all black fabric, and the kit / patterns offers a design to be appliqued ... I'm wondering if I can just free-motion stitch that design in a bright multi-colored thread. It would be subtle, but visible close up. I'll probably outline the applique that way. I can't say I'm really looking forward to the putsy work of putting those blocks together, but maybe I'll be surprised, and it will go faster than I think?

Love these rich colors. I believe I have a similar palette of fabrics set aside for a mosaic style pattern that I really wanted for our bed at the house we had built out in the country north of Eau Claire. I'd made Roman Shades from this lovely blue and red paisley chintz fabrics and planned to incorporate that same fabric into the quilt. We ended up leaving that house far sooner than we'd planned (less than 2 years) and I lost the incentive to get that quilt made. The box with the fabric and pattern kept getting put on a top shelf or back of a closet in each sewing room I've had since. I still like the pattern and fabrics so maybe there's still hope!
I'm guessing the huge size of the star and the setting blocks and triangles are what's overwhelming you at this point. I found with mine that surprisingly, it was those big blank areas to fill with applique actually went pretty fast. Dive in!
